If I cancel a debit card before a payment is processed, will it be sent to a collection agency after?

I feel I've been caught in a scam with the slice-o-matic, or sliceomatic from the infomercials and I don't want them with my debit card info. If I cancel the debit card, will they stop the order I made with them, or will they ship the order and then send the cancelled payment to a collection agency? I hear that it's all a big scam that makes unauthorized payments.
