How much does popularity matter to you when choosing a name?

Popularity does mean a lot to me...I don't have any children now, but I figured that when I do I would name my children names that are not popular now, but maybe had some popularity from one year to five years after I was born...there are great names from that time, like Trent, James, Zack, Jacob, Jessica, Ashley, Jennifer, and so on, hopefully they wont become popular again as soon as I have child...I would be pretty disappointed well
