It's not a rash but it looks like one?

Jeez...I feel all insecure now. OK! I had just gotten out of the shower, so I know it wasn't there before. My leg felt very itchy, so I scratched it and I didn't think I was scratching very hard but when I looked down, I had this thing that looked like a rash on my leg. Is this because I scratched too hard or something? It's red and splotchy, but it's not bumpy, it feels normal like the rest of my skin. It's not itchy anymore. It hasn't itched since that first time I noticed it. It's not that big. I don't think it is a life threatening thing that I need to see a doctor for. It's only bothering me because it's really hot here and I want to wear shorts.
