Good book for inmate brother?

my bro has been in prison, serving a sentence of two months for violating his probation with alcohol. i want to give him a book to read during his last few weeks in prison... something that will making him think about right and wrong, morals, justice, and the like. i thought that maybe in the penal colony or something by kafka would be good, but it's kind of short and wouldn't entertain him long, methinks.
