Do you think my plan will work?

This summer my friends and I were going to walk around the chicago land area dressed up as super heroes and doing "good deeds". You know, helping people cross the street, odd jobs, and doing whatever else helps the people. We're trying to enforce the fact that good deeds should be done even when credit is not giving, hence us wearing masks and people not knowing who we are. I just don't want people to think we are crazy or trying to be vigilantes which the cops in chicago will arrest you for. Do you think our plan will work if we start helping people and get a positive reputation for ourselves?
