'Jihad' is not only exclusive for war, it means struggling harder for the sake of Allah. Many good works are also called ' jihad'. For example: if there is a typical village in your area, that no body wants to go and stay there to teach them Islam, and you decided to sacrifice your life and time to stay with them, that is also 'Jihad'. There are lots of things that means 'Jihad' not only war.
